She had fallen in love with photography in high school and later received her BFA at the Art Center College of Design, where she met Cathy: “It was crazy hard work, but so rewarding. I know I took away more than just photography; I also came away with a new eye for design and many great friendships, especially with my friend, Cathy…” After running a studio in downtown LA for several years, Lauré and her husband moved to Massachusetts. The decision to move back to the east coast came soon after she knew she was pregnant; they sold everything, piled into the car and drove across country… New England was a rude awakening compared to the sunny west coast. Over the next four years, Lauré and her husband started a new business and had two boys. Lauré made her first quilt as a ‘thank you’ gift and in the past 18 years, has made quilts for friends, victims of 9/11, exhibited in galleries and major quilt shows and does commissions. Her passion is ‘art quilts’ and she is involved with a unique group called, ‘Women Unraveled’. They are a talented group that meet every month and enjoy the companionship and process of working with many different mediums in their quilts.
Lauré and her husband now live west of Boston, in a very old but comfortable house that forever needs their love and attention. Their two boys are both away at college and have left them with a large empty nest. Lauré’s latest venture as Director of Logistics and Friendship Development with Cathy and the launching of The Friendship Stone has been like no other: “I never in my wildest dreams thought I’d be involved in an international business, working with a group of woman such as these, but it has been rewarding beyond measure! Cathy has brought a product to market that is the essence of the many things I hold dear: friendship, beauty, perspective and a sense of well-being with the world! I’ve not only loved the journey it has taken us on, but have enjoyed the process and the on-going effort to reach as many people as possible with it’s beautiful message”.
